B06: An inverse approach to the identification and manipulation of neuronal circuits underlying olfactory-mediated habituation/discrimination
This project will examine a central capability of the olfactory system, olfactory habituation. This denotes the capacity to gradually decrease the response to an innate, non-reinforced odor stimulus after a repeated presentation of that stimulus. The project will use in-vivo imaging, as well as inverse approaches using closed loop Cal-Light/FLARE labeling to pinpoint the network and cellular features of the horizontal diagonal band (HDB)-olfactory bulb system relevant for odor habituation and discrimination behavior.
